We
continue exploring the hidden gems of Eastern Europe's ancient
Wine country. Join us for an evening of traditional wine, cuisine,
music and entertainment from the country of Hungary.

The
territory and climate of Hungary is ideal for growing wine
and since the fall of communism, wine-making here has seen a new renaissance.
The region offers a great variety of styles: elegant and full-bodied, dry whites with good acidity,
complex sweet whites (Tokaj), elegant as well as full-bodied robust reds (Villány and
Szekszárd).

Some
interesting trivia about Hungarian Tokaji
wine:
Tokaji,
meaning "from Tokaj" in Hungarian, is wines from
the region of Tokaj-Hegyalja. Tokaji wine has received
accolades from numerous great writers and composers
including Beethoven, Schubert and Goethe; Joseph Haydn's
favorite wine was a Tokaji. Louis XV and Frederick the Great
tried to outdo one another in the excellence of the vintages
they stocked when they treated guests like Voltaire.
Napoleon III, the last Emperor of the French, ordered
30–40 barrels for the Court every year and King Gustav III
of Sweden, never had any other wine to drink.
